Top 10

Overview

The Top 10 feature in Backstage allows you to showcase your most popular content in a visually engaging ranked format. This specialized playlist automatically applies position-based numbering graphics to assets, creating a countdown experience that helps users identify trending content at a glance. The Top 10 playlist is manually curated but programmatically enhanced with corresponding number graphics based on each asset's position within the playlist.

This feature is particularly effective for highlighting popular content, driving engagement through a familiar countdown format, and encouraging viewers to discover trending videos they might have missed. The Top 10 playlist can be featured on your homepage, category pages, or as a dedicated section within your app.

Order Logic

The Top 10 playlist uses a position-based numbering system that automatically assigns a corresponding graphic based on each asset's location within the playlist:

  1. Position in the playlist directly determines the displayed number graphic

    • The first item in the playlist will display a "1" graphic

    • The second item will display a "2" graphic

    • And so on through the tenth position with a "10" graphic

  2. Reordering content within the playlist will automatically update the displayed number graphics

    • If Asset A is moved from position 3 to position 1, it will now display the "1" graphic instead of "3"

    • All other assets will shift accordingly with their new position numbers

  3. The number graphic overlay is applied programmatically to the imgThumbnail2x3 image

    • No manual addition of numbering is required

    • The system handles all graphic overlays based on playlist position

This automatic numbering system ensures that your Top 10 content is always properly labeled regardless of how you choose to order or reorder the items in the playlist.
